Anita Tipene

Anita Tipene - Youth Case Manager & Youth Mentor

Anita is of Ngati Pukeko/ Nga Puhi Descent.

Born in Wellington, raised in Whakatane she has one older sister, and three younger brothers. Anita currently lives with her husband and three children who are all local in the Edgecumbe community. Her family are involved in a variety of sports such as Touch, Rugby, Netball, Basketball, Jujitsu and Triathlons within Edgecumbe to Whakatane and out to Kawerau.

Anita has been working since she was 15 years old, previously working in Hospitality and then Retail for over 10 years. Through her roles in Retail she worked her way into Management Roles, starting from a Part-time sales person, Anita was given many training opportunities which lead to managing Departments and even managing retail Stores in Gisborne and Rotorua which involved managing staff of all ages, ethnicity, and backgrounds, working mainly in Whakatane, she has worked in Gisborne, Rotorua and Kawerau.

While developing her own experience and expanding her skill set through Retail Management, Anita still found ways to help others progress in their own career goals, using her position to help mentor – also maintaining contact with past staff members, and being able to witness their growth is very rewarding. While keeping active within our own sporting activities it definitely allows you to network with a range of like minded people, bringing more opportunities to learn and grow.

She is very humbled to be in a role where she can help youth gain a sense of independence, stability and growth as a YP/YPP Case Manager/ Youth Mentor – to work within the community with youth and their whanau sharing my own life experiences I hope to encourage change within their own lives.
